Russ Jones, ProducerA documentary on Haiti received top honors at the 2011 edition of the National Religious Broadcasters Media Showcase in Nashville, Tenn. Producer and correspondent Russ Jones and cinematographer Kevin Peeples garnered first place in the news/commentary category of the People’s Choice Awards for Forever Haiti: The Untold Story.

Still in production, Forever Haiti was awarded the prize based upon a two minute trailer submitted for review by industry experts Sunday, February 27, 2011.

“I couldn’t be more honored with the award,” said Jones. “So much of the news that is reported on Haiti is negative and I am excited to show how ministries are making a difference there.”

Haiti captured headlines when a 7.0 earthquake ravage that impoverished nation January 12, 2010. The earthquake claimed the lives of over 200,000 victims that fateful day. Forever Haiti informs about the work done by mission’s teams that were already on the ground, and the work they did that made them Haiti’s true first responders.

Several TV networks have already offered airing options for the 60 minute documentary. Jones says he expects Forever Haiti: The Untold Story to be complete by early fall.
