TEN THOUSAND RUNNERS PARTICIPATE IN JERUSALEM INTERNATIONAL MARATHON

New York, NY – March 30, 2011: The Jerusalem Marathon was held on Friday, March 25 and more than 10,000 runners participated in the International event.  The race consisted of a full, half, 10-kilometer, and a 4.2-kilometer marathon course.

“We were excited to welcome these athletes from all over the world to take part in the Jerusalem International Marathon,” said Haim Gutin, Tourism Commissioner, North and South America.

The event took the runners through the scenic streets and historic sites around Jerusalem, including the Old City, the Knesset, Mount Zion, Jaffa Gate, and The Sultan’s Pool.

The marathon winners included 34 year-old Kenyan runner Raymond Kipkoechh with a time of two hours and 26 minutes; and 26 year-old Ethiopian runner Oda Worknesh finished the race with a time of two hours and 50 minutes.
