Unlike the founding fathers of our nation who knew and applied their Bibles, America is increasingly becoming biblically illiterate. Recent Barna Research studies found that the younger a person was, the less likely they were to read the Bible. Although 46% of people said they read the Bible in the last week, only 27% take the Bible literally, less than one-third of Christians believe that the Holy Spirit and Satan are real, only 16% say they base their moral decisions on the Bible, and a mere 5% have a truly biblical worldview. As the world and church are becoming more secular, the number of pastors, church members and truly Bible-based counselors, teachers, and life coaches who know and can effectively apply the Bible is plummeting.
